Academic Counseling Program

Director
Dr. Jane E. Good -
good@usna.edu

Purpose
The Academic Counseling Program provides academic advising and counseling to upper class academically at-risk midshipmen.

Services
Upper Class midshipmen may consult with Academic Center staff concerning their choice of major and/or other special requirements that affect their academic performance.

Midshipmen in the program are divided into two categories

Category 1: Midshipmen who are assigned an academic adviser from the ACP's staff because their CQPRs are below 2.0 and/or they are two or more courses behind in their matrix.

Category 2: Midshipmen who are assigned an adviser in their major department, but are monitored by the appropriate ACP staff member. Generally, these midshipmen have experienced past academic difficulty, but have CQPRs above a 2.0 and are not behind in their matrix.

Faculty Liaison:
Group 1: Dr. Thomas Dawson
Group 2: Dr. Jody Lockhart (SMA)
Group 3:

Dr. Roger Little (FEC)
Dr. Rob Tomlinson (FPS)
