
Captain Peter A. Nardi, USN
Captain Pete Nardi is a native of North Miami Beach, Florida, graduating
from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree,
majoring in Mathematics.
Captain
Nardi served as Electrical Officer and First Lieutenant in USS OBANNON (DD
987) from 1985 to 1987. Upon receiving a Master of Science Degree in
Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1990, he was assigned
to the United States Naval Academy as a Senior Instructor in the Computer
Science Department. It was
during his tour at the Naval Academy that he was accepted for lateral
transfer to the Engineering Duty Officer Community.
Following his tour at
the Naval Academy he served at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion and
Repair, Pascagoula, Mississippi, from 1992 to 1995.
During this tour he was assigned as a Design Engineer for USS BATAAN
(LHD-5) and Ship Superintendent for USS BOXER (LHD-4).
After completing Surface Warfare Department Head School he served as
Combat Systems Officer in USS BOXER (LHD-4) from 1996 to 1998.
Upon completion of his tour in BOXER he reported to the LPD-17
Program Office where he was assigned as both the LPD-17 Ship Class Combat
Systems Engineering Integration Lead and the Program Manger’s Representative
at Raytheon Systems Company, San Diego, CA.
He was responsible for the integration of Navy and Marine Corps
combat and C4ISR systems in the LPD-17 design and maintained technical
oversight of the development of electronic systems at Raytheon.
Following his LPD-17 Program tour, he served in the DD-21 Program
Office (later renamed DD(X)
),
Naval Sea Systems Command, from September 2000 to June 2003.
He served for two years as the Advanced Radar Suite Acquisition
Manager and one year as the Combat Systems Engineering Integration Manager
for the DD(X) design. Following
his tour in DD(X), he returned to the United States Naval Academy to serve
as the Deputy Director of the Division of Engineering and Weapons, and
Project Manager for the restoration of the Engineering and Weapons
laboratory facilities following the devastation of Tropical Storm Isabel.
In September 2004, he was assigned as the Surface Ship Combat Systems
Manager in PEO(IWS), responsible for the development and integration of all
Naval Surface Combat Systems, including the Aegis Weapon System and The Ship
Self Defense System MK-2. In
September 2005 Captain Nardi was selected as a Major Program Manager and
assigned as the Program Manager for Naval Command and Control - PEO (IWS)
6.0 - where he oversaw development and fielding of the Navy’s displays and
tactical processors, shipboard electronic navigation systems, and the
Cooperative Engagement Sensor Network.
From 2009-2012, he was assigned as the Director, Division of
Engineering and Weapons, United States Naval Academy and is currently
serving as the Associate Dean for Finance & Military Affairs, United States
Naval Academy.
Captain Nardi is authorized to wear the following awards and
ribbons: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Navy Commendation
Medal (2), Navy Achievement Medal and various unit citations and campaign
ribbons. He and his wife Jeanne
have two daughters and reside in Annapolis, MD.
