USNA Amateur Radio Club W3ADO is participating with ARINC Amateur Radio Club for
2005 Field Day
June 25-26
Each year, during the third weekend in June, amateur
radio operators from around the world participate in an emergency
communications simulation called Field Day. Field Day usually goes for a 24
hour period and attemps communications connectivity around the globe for
that period. Historically, the ARINC Radio Club (ARINC RC) has operated the
club radio station, W3ZH, for several years. In 2005 ARINC RC invited
W3ADO to participate in the Radio Field Day event at Seabee Beach in Annapolis during
the weekend of June 25 and June 26 2005. Starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, W3ADO
Operated vintage Military radio equipment and had 200
contacts
in a 18 hour period. Participating club members where 4/c Midshipman Shawn
MacEwan KD7FPS, ENS Dan Trembula KG4DRA, and ENC (SEAL/SW) Scott Snyder
KG6ERY. Bob Bruninga WB4APR provided
APRS
demonstrations from his communications trailer.
