Dr. David Matsumoto
Professor of Psychology, San Francisco State University
Dr. Matsumoto is an internationally acclaimed scholar in the fields of culture, emotion, social interaction and communication. He is particularly renowned for his studies on facial expression of emotion, nonverbal behavior, and detecting deception. He is the founder and director of the Culture and Emotion Research Laboratory at San Francisco State University. In 2009, Dr. Matsumoto received a grant from the Department of Defense to examine the role of emotions in ideologically-based groups. Dr. Matsumoto is a renowned judo athlete as well and was the team leader for the 2000 Sydney USA Olympic judo team.
