7 Research-based Principles for Smart Teaching

This interactive workshop represents a bridge between research on learning and the practice of teaching. It introduces seven principles of "How Learning Works," distilled from research in cognitive, developmental, and social psychology; education; and diversity studies. Faculty in many different contexts have found that these principles resonate – across disciplines, across student levels, and across cultures. We will discuss these principles in terms of how they apply to real teaching situations and how they can be leveraged in the courses we teach.
