Marsha C. Lovett is senior
associate director at the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and associate
teaching professor in the Department of Psychology, both at Carnegie Mellon. At
the Eberly Center, she applies theoretical and empirical research from cognitive
psychology to help instructors improve their teaching. In her own research, Dr.
Lovett has used multiple methodologies to study how students learn in a variety
of domains. She has published more than fifty research articles on learning and
instruction, is co-editor of the book Thinking with Data, and co-author
of the book How Learning Works: Seven Research-Based Principles for Smart
Teaching.
