NAVAL ARCHITECTURE AND OCEAN ENGINEERING

Upon graduation, those who have earned a degree in either naval architecture or ocean engineering will be:

• Well educated in the principles of engineering and able to exercise their technical background by application
• Adept at solving open-ended engineering design problems
• Capable of working effectively as part of an engineering design team
• Able to effectively present, both orally and in writing, a technical problem and its solution to an appropriate approving authority
• Able to understand, conduct, judiciously interpret, and appreciate engineering experimentation
• Competent to use, as a tool and in a variety of ways, computer technology
• Possessed of an appreciation for the impact that the practice of engineering has on society and the environment, and
• Willing and able to engage in life-long learning.
