Communicating Effectively in Writing- Theory into Action!

14 May  0900-1200

Writing skills in all disciplines develop over time. We will focus on how to plan within and across

introductory and majors’ courses to help students engage in “writing to learn”  and  “learning to

write contextually in their discipline” more effectively.   Join us for an interactive discussion

       and workshop to help you:

      (1) Identify the kinds of learning and effective writing you want to take place in your course.

      (2) Design assignments that will foster and test those skills.

      (3) Develop rubrics to grade student writing and provide more useful feedback to students.

      (4) Examine writing/grading strategies to enhance student learning in your content area.

      (5) Analyze and design writing strategies and assessments to  help students write contextually

as a discipline specialist and proficiently as an entry level United States Naval Officer.

      (6) Learn to communicate with students effectively about grades.

      (7) Save TIME in the grading process!
