Senior Chaplain * CAPT Michael Parisi
CAPT Parisi is a Roman Catholic priest of the Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey. He holds a bachelor’s degree in modern languages from Seton Hall University, and theological degrees from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Ordained in 1982, he served Saint Margaret of Scotland Parish in Morristown, New Jersey, and taught Biblical Criticism and Hermeneutics at Immaculate Conception Seminary in South Orange, New Jersey.
Commissioned in the Navy Chaplain Corps in 1988, Father Parisi has served with Ninth Marines; Second Battalion, Twelfth Marines; Commander, Amphibious Squadron Eight; Naval Station Rota; Naval District Washington; Coast Guard Integrated Support Command, Kodiak; Navy Recruiting Command; Commander, Naval Forces, US Central Command; USS John C. Stennis; and Commander, Navy Region Europe. He has served for three months with Commander, Joint Task Force Guantanamo, and deployed twice with Commander, South Atlantic Force. Before arriving at the Academy he was assigned as Force Chaplain, on the staff of Commander, Naval Forces Europe and Naval Forces Africa, and Commander, SIXTH Fleet.
Captain Parisi’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.
