 
Captain Peter W. McGeory is
the Senior Chaplain at the United States Naval Academy. As
senior chaplain he is responsible for religious support to the 4,300
member Brigade of Midshipmen. He is also responsible for
management of the Academy's historic chapel.
Born in New York City April
12, 1949, Captain McGeory is the son of the late George and Ruth
McGeory. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The Catholic University of
America (1972) and the top graduate of Saint Joseph Seminary,
Dunwoodie (1976), he was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the
Archdiocese of New York in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in December
1976 by the late Terence Cardinal Cooke.
Father McGeory served
for 7 years as the Parochial Vicar of the Church of SS. John and
Paul in Larchmont, New York and later for 2 years on the faculty of
Religious Studies at Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains,
New York.
Father McGeory was
commissioned a Lieutenant in 1984 and graduated from Chaplain’s
School, Newport, Rhode Island in 1985. His active duty assignments

CARL VINSON (CVN-70) (Bremerton, WA), BUPERS (Millington, TN),
COMNAVACTUK (London, UK), and COMNAVSURFOR/COMNAVAIRFOR in Coronado,
CA.
In addition to several unit
citations, Captain McGeory’s personal awards include: The Legion of
Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Joint Service Commendation
Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), and the Navy
Achievement Medal (3).
