Bordeau Hired as New Plebe Coach

Topher Bordeau was recently hired as the new Plebe Heavyweight Crew Coach. He will take over for Chris Allsopp mid-year, who decided to take the vacant boatman position and become the new associate director of rowing operations.

Bordeau brings a lot of experience to Navy after coaching the freshmen lightweights at Princeton University for three years. In 2003, his freshmen eight placed second at the Eastern Sprints while his 2004 crew placed third. In his first year coaching the tigers, his freshmen four earned a silver medal at the IRA National Championship.

A 1998 Princeton graduate, Bordeau was a three-time Sprints champion ('96, '97, '98), three-time IRA champion ('95, '96, '98), and the captain of the national championship crew as a senior. His 1998 boat had a perfect season, an undefeated dual season along with winning the heats and finals of the Sprints and IRAs.

After graduating from Princeton, he attended Oxford University where he rowed in the 1999 "Boat Race" against Cambridge. Prior to coaching at his alma mater, he spent a season coaching the third and fourth fours at Belmont Hill School in Belmont, MA, where his third four won the New England Championship and his fourth four came in second.
