LT. Cantor, USN

Lieutenant Jonathan (Jon) Cantor currently serves as the 16th Company Officer at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Lieutenant Cantor was born in Neptune, New Jersey and grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia. Upon graduation from Heritage High School in 1993, he attended the University of North Texas for one year. Following his marriage to Sarah Anne and the birth of his first child, he enlisted in the Navy in 1997 as a Nuclear Electronics Technician. In 1999, he was accepted to North Carolina State University under the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program. He earned a Bachleor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001 and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002. He was commissioned as an Ensign in December 2002.

Upon completion of Nuclear Power School and Prototype in Charleston, SC, Lieutenant Cantor was assigned to the USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN 736)(BLUE). Aboard WEST VIRGINIA, he served as the Chemical and Radiological Controls Assistant and the Communication Officer.

In May of 2007, Lieutenant cantor arrived at the University of Maryland and began the Leadership Education and Development program. He graduated with his Masters degree in May of 2008.

He has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal, and various other unit awards including being nominated by the Commanding Officer of USS WEST VIRGINIA (BLUE) as Junior Officer of the Year for 2006.
