Fundamental Tricks
This are basic drill exhibitions moves that the Rogers incorporate into their
routines. All these moves can be done by beginners with some practice. All first
year Rogers learn and master these moves in the first few weeks of joining the
team, even those without any prior experience. Each clip is shown first at
normal speed then slowed down for easier viewing.
Helpful hints:
- Keep your position of attention (POA) at all times, straight back, feet
at a 45 degree angle. Always start out at the POA when learning a new move
and strive to maintain it (though it will be hard at first!)
- Even the coolest moves look stupid if you loose your bearing.
- Eyes on the rifle! This may seem basic, but it is hard to catch a rifle
properly when you aren't focusing on it.
- Pay close attention to hand placement in the videos, but remember it is
different for everyone.
- Don't be afraid of the rifle. You WILL get hurt doing some of these
moves, remember that. However, you really have to try to hit yourself in any
place other than the arms or fingers. If you stub your finger or bruise your
arm, pick up the rifle and keep practicing.
- The tricks are listed in quasi-order of difficultly. Use common sense
and don't try to do a double spin before you master a single spin.
