Status of Greenbury Point Roads/Trails
During the Winter of 2003, Greenbury Point underwent minimal soil excavation
at seven (7) historical and three (3) existing tower sites. Certain roads/trails
were temporarly closed for the project. Thank you for your cooperation
during this process.
Trails Remain OPEN at this time.
Location
The
building sits on a mostly undeveloped 231 acre peninsula and is bounded
by the Severn River, the Chesapeake Bay, and two tidal coves. It is managed
as a conservation area and is used for light midshipmen tactical training.
The nature center consists of the building at
265 Bullard Boulevard, Annapolis, Maryland, 21402. There are approximately
1.5 miles of trails in the vicinity. The Naval Station’s rifle range requires
a safety overshot zone in the middle of Greenbury Point, so the public
are restricted to the blazed trails on the north end of the property. There
is a map of the trails on the outside bulletin board in the parking lot
of the nature center.

Operation
and Programs
The
nature center is open to the general public every Thursday (noon-4 pm),
and the first Saturday of the month (8am-3pm). We can schedule organized
groups by appointment for a tour or program. We're still creating new exhibits,
and starting to rotate out some old ones to keep the center fresh!
The
proposed schedule for organized groups is all day Wednesday and on Thursday
mornings. Our programs are informal and can often be tailored to your group's
interests such as school projects and scout badges. We generally like to
keep groups to 25 people or less.
