The
Department maintains three internet-connected classrooms equipped with twenty
PCs each. Two are located in NI004 and NI006 just a few short feet from the
Department offices, while the third is located in Sampson 101. In addition to typical programs such as
Microsoft Office, our computers are also installed with statistical and
economic-related software such as STATA, SPSS, and MatLab. These rooms are used for teaching FE331
Economics Statistics, FE445 Econometrics, and depending on the availability,
sections our upper division electives and some sections of the research seminar
FE475.
The library
has an extensive collection of books and professional journals in
economics. In addition, online access to the full text of many journals
and professional publications is provided through JSTOR, Business Source
Premier, and Standard and Poor’s. All of these services are accessible through
the economics link on the library's homepage. Antoinette Satterfield, Economics Reference
Librarian, (satterfi@usna.edu) is
available to meet for research
consultation. Students can also access EconLit,
which is a comprehensive, indexed bibliography for selected abstracts of the
world's economic literature. It includes coverage of over 400 major
journals as well as books, working papers, dissertations and conference
proceedings. All majors should be thoroughly familiar with this
database. The library's economics page also includes links to numerous
data sources and other resources of interest to economics students.
