Critique: "A Devoted Lady"

In her writing, Lady Isabella Augusta Gregory ws indeed a great Irish patriot. Her celebration of Ireland's peasantry inspired nationalism among the commoners. "A Devoted Lady" is a fair summary of Lady Gregory's contribution to the Abbey Theater and to Ireland's literary culture, however it fails to mention some of her great works in her capacties other than in her role as a playwright. A complicated marriage between Lady Gregory and William is implied and is unfounded, as is a romantic relationship between Lady Gregory and her contemporary, W. B. Yeats. Though much older than Lady Gregory, William was loving and supportive husband. As an artist himself, William encouraged Lady Gregory to write. After Williams death, Lady Gregory in lonely mourning, tasked herself with writing his memoirs. Lady Gregory was motivated to inspire a sense of Irish patriotism by helping the Abbey after the death of her son, Robert who was killed in WW I. Lady Gregory was not so ashamed of her upbringing that she could not support the Abbey and its writers.
