National Character and Leadership Symposium (NCLS)
Summary
The intent of the National Character and Leadership Symposium (NCLS) is to bring individuals together to learn
more about different aspects of leadership as well as to enable them to walk away with a greater knowledge of
self and purpose.
USNA participation
Approximately 2 Staff / Faculty and 4 Midshipmen.
Student Papers
Students have the option of submitting a paper. Each university is invited to submit one student paper that reflects
upon the theme of the current year's Symposium. More specifics about the papers can be found on the General Information
page of the NCLS Web Site.
Selected papers will be presented at the student consortium in February and published in the NCLS proceedings. Authors
of papers selected for presentation will be receive a $100 honorarium and be recognized at the Symposium.
Deadline for Submission:
Proposals must be submitted to the Character Development Division by December 13, 2002 for review and submitted to NCLS prior to the conference.
Papers must have endorsement from the Superintendents office. For more information, follow the "Student Info" link on the
NCLS Web Site.
Logistics
The conference is held at the United States Air Force Academy. USNA participants will fly to USAFA and berth in Cadet Dormitories.
