Profile

CDR Brianas joined the United States Navy in 1992 and spent one year as a cadet at the New Mexico Military Institute.  He entered the United States Naval Academy and graduated in 1997 with Merit, earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

Joining the Fleet as a Surface Warfare Officer, he reported to the USS OAK HILL (LSD 51) as 1st Division Officer.  His follow-on junior officer tour included an overseas deployment to the Arabian Gulf on the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) as the OI Division Officer in the Combat Direction Center.

CDR Brianas served as Manpower Analyst, PERS-452, and Officer Readiness Briefer to the Chief of Naval Personnel at the Naval Bureau of Personnel, Millington TN; Chief Engineer, USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60); Operations Officer, Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron FOUR, Portsmouth VA and Kuwait, Kuwait Naval Base; Executive Assistant to RDML Anthony Kurta, Commander, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), Djibouti, Africa.

Following his GSA-IA tour in Africa, CDR Brianas reported to Training Support Center-Great Lakes, Chicago, IL, serving as the N3 Operations Officer for 5,700 “A” and “C” school students.  Transitioning back to sea duty, in 2011, he reported onboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in Newport News, VA as the ship’s Auxiliaries Officer.  Completing Mission Essential Testing during the ship’s Refueling Complex Overhaul CNO Availability, he received orders to the United States Naval Academy as the Deputy Director for VADM Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership, Annapolis, Maryland.

He has completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I and earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security Affairs, European Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School.

Personal decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals and various Unit Commendations.
