MEDICAL RECORD REVIEW
1, 8, & 22 March – 8:00 am – 3:00 pm - CALL FOR
AN APPOINTMENT
The AMVET, a Private Non-Profit Service Organization will be reviewing
medical records for retiring or separating service members to identify
medical conditions to be considered for follow-on VA services. This
review will assist members in obtaining all necessary documents
and other additional information prior to their separation from
the service. Members should bring their original medical record.

BOOT CAMP FOR BABIES (FORMERLY "BUDGETING FOR BABY")
Thursday, 1 March – 11:30 am – 3:45 pm
The Boot Camp for Babies workshop provides expectant parents and
those with infants with an understanding of an infant's world, and
some basic skills necessary for parenting. This class will address
the challenges of parenting such as balancing work and family, safety
issues, required health care paperwork, and the hidden costs associated
with a growing family. Participants will learn how to prepare financially
for the newest member of the family.
Attending this workshop qualifies you, regardless of rank, for
a Layette (also known as Baby's First Sea Bag). The Layette is issued
to any eligible attendee who has recently had a baby or whose child
will be born within six months. It consists of a coordinated set
of bedding and clothing and a handmade item (a knitted or crocheted
sweater set and afghan) worth approximately $100. Don't miss out
on this exciting class that will prepare you for parenthood!

FINANCIAL PLANNING FOR DEPLOYMENT
Wednesday, 1 March 6:00 - 7:00 pm
Deployments can be exciting as well as stressful. The more prepared
you can be financially, the less stress you will likely experience.
Topics to be covered are: Important legal documents, Managing finances,
Paying bills, Using credit, Taxes (if deployment extends over 15
April), Property management during deployment., Housing, Vehicles,
Communicating with family and friends and Sources of help. This

1-2-3 MAGIC (PARENTING) WORKSHOP
Friday, 2 March, 9 – 11:30 am
This award-winning, best selling program addresses the difficult
task of child discipline with humor, keen insight and proven experience.
It provides easy-to-follow steps for disciplining children without
yelling, arguing or spanking. You'll learn how to control obnoxious
behavior, the Six Kinds of Testing and Manipulation and also how
to handle issues around chores, homework, messy rooms, lying, and
more.

effective parenting program for those who have children between

“HEARTS APART” - DEPLOYMENT DICUSSION GROUP

on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at the Fleet

RESUME WRITING
Wednesday, 7 March, 4:30 -7:00 pm
Wondering how to write your resume? Have you written a resume but
it isn’t getting the results you want? Our resume writing
workshop will help you get started or show you how to improve the
one you have written. This class will discuss targeting your resume,
selecting the best format for your work experience and creating
a cover letter. Participants will complete a draft resume outline.

MILLION DOLLAR SAILOR
Thursday – Friday, 8 – 9 March, 8:00 am – 4:00

The Million Dollar Sailor (MDS) program is a two day training event
designed to assist Sailors and their family members successfully
navigate through the transitions of Navy life and the financial
challenges that accompany them. MDS is a component of the Personal
Financial Management Program created to specifically combat the
most common financial issues facing Sailors in today’s Navy
by providing them with sound financial management skills that can
be used over the course of their lifetime. Spouses are welcome and
encouraged to attend this informational workshop.

STRONG INTEREST INVENTORY

In today's world of economic and corporate change, career detours,
loss of employment and intense competition among job seekers, one
of the most important challenges facing individuals is having "career
insurance." The best career insurance is to know yourself,
your interests, personality style, abilities, and values. The Strong
Interest Inventory can assist you by helping you explore the fit
between your interests and jobs, projects and working environments.
This career assessment workshop will provide insight into the pros
and cons of career choices, your work style, your educational or
environmental preferences, and your leadership and risk taking styles.
It will enhance your career planning by bringing objectivity and

TRANSITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TAP) WORKSHOP

A four day career and job search workshop for separating and retiring
service members seeking civilian employment. Topics include: skills
assessment, resume writing, job search methods, interview techniques,
as well as a review of Veteran entitlement and much more. Register
now if you are within 1 year of separation or 2 years of retirement.
Classes fill up months ahead. IMPORTANT!!! You must see your Command
Career Counselor and obtain a signed DD 2648 from your command prior
to coming to TAP. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN YOU BEING TURNED

CAREER OPTIONS AND NAVY SKILLS EVALUATION PROGRAM
(CONSEP) MID-CAREER

The Career Options and Navy Skills Evaluation Program (CONSEP) is
a four day workshop for members who are considering leaving the
military Mid Career. The program will focus on civilian and military
career options as well as financial readiness. Perhaps you or your
personnel have asked the following questions . . . How prepared
are you to leave? Do you have a resume? What skill sets will you
market to the civilian sector? Are you financially ready? What military
career options could you pursue?
This dynamic program is a holistic approach to military career
planning. The curriculum has been designed to help members expand
their horizons, plot a true course for success, showcase their military
options and enhance their ability to make sound financial planning
decisions.
Someone you know could benefit from this program. CONSEP is a tool
to assist military personnel in making an informed decision about
their future . . . whether to depart or STAY NAVY. CONSEP helps
prepare service members to take the helm and chart their own journey.

10 STEPS TO A FEDERAL JOB

The process of applying for a job in the Federal Government may
seem confusing as different Government Agencies have different requirements.
Agencies may require the Optional Application for Federal Employment
(OF-612), an SF-171, or a resume. This workshop will provide you
with tips on how to best prepare your application. To learn more

COMMAND INDOCTRINATION/NEWCOMERS’ ORIENTATION

Command Indoctrination Programs are designed to facilitate the adaptation
of Sailors and their families into their new working and living
environments. This will afford Sailors and their families the greatest
opportunity for a successful and productive tour of duty.

monthly “Command Indoc/Newcomer’s Orientation.”
The Indoc/Orientation is for all active duty service members reporting
to the U.S. Naval Academy, Naval Support Activity Annapolis, Navy

INTERVIEWING SKILLS
Monday, 26 March, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
What are your greatest strengths? Greatest weaknesses? Learn how
to answer these and many other common interview questions. This
workshop discusses interview preparation, the stages of an interview
and interview follow-up. Class objectives also include: defining
5 types of interviews, discussing salary negotiation and answering

NAVY FAMILY OMBUDSMAN BASIC TRAINING

This training consists of 9 modules that help official command ombudsmen
and command leadership team members work effectively with their
commands. Workshops provide resource avenues for helping families
through crisis and daily living. Open to Ombudsmen, COs, XOs, Chaplains,
CMCs, COBs, and their spouses.

COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP

Communication is the most important skill in life. It is the foundation
for everything. In our professional and personal lives it is essential
in order to succeed. Unfortunately, communication breakdowns occur
every day at home and in workplaces all over the world. The fact
is that, even though we’ve been communicating all our lives,
few of us are experts at it.
To become a better communicator, you need to consciously work at
it. The rewards are worth the effort. By improving your communication
skills, you’ll increase your effectiveness. You will find
that your relationships – at work and at home-improve as well.
At this workshop you’ll learn about the seven destructive
communication breakdowns. More importantly, you learn how to avoid
these breakdowns with practical guidelines and tips on how to avoid
conflicts.
