UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY GOSPEL CHOIR CELEBRATES TWENTY YEARS
OF MUSIC, MINISTRY, AND MENTORSHIP
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Naval Academy Gospel Choir invites all midshipmen, Alumni, youth, extended Naval Academy Family, and the public to enjoy its 20th Anniversary Concert. The concert will be held at First Christian Community Church of Annapolis at 1800 Hall Brown Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on November 20, 2005 at 4:00 PM. Admission is free.
Chartered in 1985, the United States Naval Academy Gospel Choir is an upbeat gospel, inspirational musical ensemble. Comprised of midshipmen from various locations, races, and creeds, the Gospel Choir is truly reflective of the diverse interests and ethnicities within the Brigade of Midshipmen. The common bond between the members of this young choir is their anointed voices, musical talents, and passion to praise God through song. With a mission of “Music, Ministry, and Mentorship,” the choir travels to a myriad of high schools and professional, cultural, and religious venues across the United States.
The choir is under the direction of the gifted Joyce Garrett of Kinston, NC. Garrett has endowed the choir with a diverse repertoire of gospel choir music ranging from traditional hymns and Negro spirituals to contemporary gospel rhythms. Under her direction since 1990, the choir has received recognition throughout the country for its excellence in singing.
