Bon Chul Koo, South Korea

             I was born in Daejoen, South Korea on 4^th of February 1981. Before I went to the Korean Naval Academy, I had never lived out of my town and it was really tough decision to go to school far away from home. I applied the Korean Naval Academy because somehow Navy was very attractive and I would like to be an officer for government, just like my dad.

            My father is 57 years old and he worked for EPA. I believe that no one has been influencing my life as much as my father has done. I love him so much. My mother is a typical and traditional wife of dad and mom of me and my sisters. I have been always stirred by her and she has motivated me a lot to stay and to keep going my way of living. I have three sisters. The Oldest one, Bonshil married 4years ago and she has a very cute baby, Yoosun. The second elder sister, Jinok is 26 years old and she has proposed by her lovely boyfriend last night. The other sister, Jinsoon is 24 years old. She works for Agency for Defense Development.

            I think I am a lucky man. I am neither that smart nor that strong in physically and mentally. However, I would be able to have great opportunities to come to USNA and to widen my prospective as looking at different world and different people. Because of that, I always appreciate God, my country, and USA. Hopefully, I want to be a charismatic but parental officer who follows a COMPASS which shows me the true NORTH and SOUTH in my mind.
