The JBH Leadership Awards honor the visionary leadership of a naval officer whose ideals and dedication led to the integration of women into the Regular Navy. Established in 1987, these awards are presented annually to recognize the inspirational leadership of a Navy or Marine Corps officer and enlisted member on active or reserve duty. There are three awards, one senior officer: O5/O4; one junior officer: O3 and below; and one senior enlisted: Navy E7 through E9, USMC E6 through E9. The criteria for each is the same award, which includes inspirational, innovative, and imaginative leadership demonstrated by example, on and off duty.
