Joy Bright Hancock Leadership Award
The JBH Leadership Awards honor the visionary leadership of a naval officer whose ideals and dedication led to the integration of women into the Regular Navy. Established in 1987, these awards are presented annually to recognize the inspirational leadership of a Navy or Marine Corps officer and enlisted member on active or reserve duty. There are three awards, one senior officer: O5/O4; one junior officer: O3 and below; and one senior enlisted: Navy E7 through E9, USMC E6 through E9. The criteria for each is the same award, which includes inspirational, innovative, and imaginative leadership demonstrated by example, on and off duty. Nominees should be mature leaders who have shown exceptional leadership over time and have persevered to overcome challenges
