Position: Lakefield Family Foundation DistinguishedMilitary Professor in LeadershipInstitution: United States Naval AcademyLocation: Annapolis, MDThe United States Naval Academy seeks a candidate to fill the Bruce and Bernadine Lakefield Distinguished Military Professor of Leadership in the Leadership, Ethics and Law Department. The position includes responsibilities as Course Director for a core leadership course and has responsibilities for teaching and curriculum and instructor development in the department. In addition, the incumbent is designated a Senior Fellow in the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership and supports the Chair, Leadership, Ethics and Law Department on committees and assignments related to the departmental and Naval Academy mission. Successful candidates will demonstrate a familiarity with
the fundamental tenets of leadership in the context of theories and principles
of individual and group behavior; including human development, followership,
personality, motivation, performance enhancement, supervision, organizational
development and communication. Preference will be given to individuals with
prior teaching level at the undergraduate or graduate level who have served as
senior career officers in the U.S. armed forces with significant operational
experience and proven leadership skills, and who possess at least a masters
level of graduate education. Competitive compensation for this non-tenure track,
renewable term civilian appointment is commensurate with qualifications and
experience. Appointment is in the Leadership, Ethics and Law Department.
