 The United States Naval Academy invites applications for a Fully endowed, high-profile renewable term appointment as the Class of 1961 Professor of Leadership Education in the Department of Leadership, Ethics and Law (LEL). This Appointment will begin no later than August 2010. The Class of 1961 Professor of Leadership Education will take a leading role in expanding the leadership education program, mentoring junior faculty, advising and assisting the department chair on curricular matters, teaching undergraduate core and elective courses, overseeing an innovative Master's degree program in leadership for military officers, and conducting cutting-edge research in leadership development.

 The successful candidate must have a professional and academic background consistent with the demands of a prominent leadership role at an academically elite service academy.  The Naval Academy is the nation's premier venue for developing leaders of character for the Navy and Marine Corps. Candidates for the Class of 1961 Professor of Leadership Education must provide evidence of the following: (1) A Ph.D. in field central to leadership (e.g., organizational behavior, industrial and organizational psychology, social psychology, sociology, leadership development); (2) a record of successful teaching, student advising, and faculty mentoring; (3) a record of notable research and a stream of publications relevant to the field of leadership; (4) a history of success in  previous leadership roles, and (5) clear evidence of experience with and an understating of the military culture. Applicants should submit a CV, transcripts, three letters of reference, names of additional references, samples of published scholarship and evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

The United States Naval Academy is a four-year, Federal undergraduate institution with a highly motivated and select student body. Full faculty and federal government service benefits are provided.
