A native of Davis, California, LT Frank Zalom holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Baltimore.

LT Zalom's initial sea tour was onboard USS MCCLUSKY (FFG 41) homeported in San Diego, California. He served as the ship's Ordnance Officer, Force Protection Officer, Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure Officer, and Rescue Swimmer. With MCCLUSKY, he deployed twice to the 4th Fleet area of operations conducting counter illicit trafficking operations. LT Zalom's second sea tour was onboard Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron FIVE based in Imperial Beach, California. He served as the squadron's Training Officer and Legal Officer, and deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations conducting Maritime Security Operations in the Gulf of Oman. LT Zalom currently teaches NL310, Leadership: Theory and Applications, to 2nd Class Midshipmen.
