A Pennsylvania native, LT Murse holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from DeSales University and a Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law.
After graduating from law school in May 2004, LT Murse served as a law clerk for the Honorable Henry S. Kenderdine, Jr., of the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. LT Murse entered the JAG Corps in 2006 through the Direct Appointment Program and graduated from the Naval Justice School (NJS) in August 2006.
Following NJS, LT Murse served as a legal assistance and defense attorney as well as Officer-in-Charge of Naval Legal Service Office Central, Branch Office Corpus Christi. While in Corpus Christi, LT Murse defended 19 courts-martial cases and oversaw the legal assistance services for the largest geographic area of responsibility within the command. In August 2008, LT Murse became the Staff Judge Advocate for Navy Information Operations Command Hawaii, a 1500-Sailor command that provides Information Warfare capabilities to the National Security Agency/Central Security Service Hawaii and Pacific Fleet operating forces.
LT Murse arrived at the United States Naval Academy in July 2011, and he currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership, Ethics, and Law.
