LT Zachary Prager currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership, Ethics and Law. He commissioned into the Naval service in July, 2007. A lifelong resident of Madison, WI, LT Prager graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2002, majoring in Physics and Political Science. He later attended Harvard Law School, graduating with a juris doctor in June, 2007. He is admitted to the Wisconsin Bar.
In December, 2007, LT Prager reported to Navy Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic, in Norfolk, VA. He worked as a legal assistance attorney, serving as the head of the Little Creek Branch Office, and as a defense counsel in 19 courts-martial and 33 administrative separation boards.
From March to November, 2009, LT Prager served at the Joint Interrogation and Debriefing Center in Iraq. He counseled military and civilian interrogators and ensured interrogation operations complied with the Geneva Conventions and federal law and policy.
Upon returning to Norfolk, LT Prager worked with the Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic in the Command Services department.
In July, 2010, LT Prager checked onboard RLSO Japan in Yokosuka. He served as trial counsel until July, 2012, prosecuting over 40 courts-martial. He also provided humanitarian support in March 2011 as part of Operation Tomodachi, following Japan's earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster.
