TECHNICAL REPORTS

Technical reports detail and describe the results of ongoing research and are published by a variety of sources including government agencies or contractors. Search the Nimitz library catalog, to determine whether references identified by searching the following databases are located in the Nimitz Library. If not, USNA midshipmen and faculty can order most other reports at the Nimitz Library Reference Desk.

• DTIC STINET (Defense Technical Information Center, Scientific and Technical Information Network) -- an index to technical reports written for all branches of the U. S. military from late 1974 to present. Includes many full-text reports from 1999-present. For best results use Netscape as your browser when trying to display items from STINET.

• NASA Technical Reports Server -- allows users to search the many different abstract and technical report servers maintained by various NASA centers and programs. Many NASA-produced items are available full-text in .pdf format.

• NTIS (National Technical Information Service Database) -- Indexes and abstracts unclassified, unlimited government produced or contracted reports covering a wide range of topics. (1964-present, weekly updates. Should the above link not work for any reason try the mirror server).
