A variety of sources for journal articles, electronic books, book chapters, declassified documents, policy papers, primary sources and reports are listed in alphabetic order below. Some internet sources are included because they are official sites and provide research material at no cost.

ACADEMIC SEARCH PREMIER A multi-disciplinary journal article database of scholarly and popular publications.
AMERICA HISTORY AND LIFE &
HISTORICAL ABSTRACTS
History of the U.S. and Canada from prehistory to the present.
Remainder of the world from 1450 to present.
CIAO (Columbia International Affairs Online) Includes working papers, policy briefs, conference proceedings, original case
studies, and foundation-funded research projects.
CQ Electronic Library The CQ Electronic Library allows to you to search and read content from CQ's Politics in America, CQ Supreme Court Collection, CQ Researcher*, CQ Global Researcher* , and CQ Weekly. *Great places to begin your research with small, overview reports.
DIGITAL NATIONAL SECURITY ARCHIVE Full-text access to 50 years of declassified documents related to U. S. foreign
policy. For recently uploaded items, check The National Security Archive's parent site at GWU.
DDRS - Declassified Documents Reference System Over 75,000 declassified documents from numerous government agencies plus
supplemental information. Ranging from the late 1940's through the 1970's, it
covers nearly every major foreign and domestic event of the time period.
ECONLIT Find journal articles, books, book reviews, collective volume articles, working
papers and dissertations pertaining to economics from around the world.
GALLERY WATCH Find materials covering a variety of topics that are used by Congress to gain
insight into proposed legislation from Congressional Research Service (CRS).
LEXIS-NEXIS PRESIDENTIAL STUDIES Key primary and secondary presidential sources on almost every major political
event in American history. Find manuscripts from 1789, every inaugural and
State of the Union Address, and thousands of government documents including
Executive Orders, photographs and other images.

NATIONAL JOURNAL GROUP POLICY CENTRAL Find the nonpartisan coverage on politics, policy and government; also The
Hotline, CongressDaily, Almanac of American Politics, Markup Reports & Bill
Status and Poll Track.
Open Source Center - Formerly FBIS U. S. government sponsored translations of daily broadcasts, government statements, and select news stories from non-English sources around the world. FBIS Online contains materials published from April 1995-present and is updated continuously with reports available for searching within 30-60 minutes of being filed. Password required. USNA personnel needing access must register and apply for their own password.
PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service) Publications from over 120 countries throughout the world; sources include
NGOs, U.S. government documents and foreign language publications.
PHILOSOPHERS’ INDEX International coverage of political philosophy through journal articles, book
chapters and book reviews.
POLITICAL RISK YEARBOOK An annual collection of the PRY’s 106 country reports, which give political and
economic risk analysis with a particular focus on political and business
information.
PRAEGER SECURITY INTERNATIONAL Updated weekly, includes books, encyclopedias, documents and commentary.
Multidisciplinary analysis includes defense and foreign policy, strategy, regional
security, military history, and terrorism. Terrorist incident chronology available.
PSYCINFO Journal coverage and book chapters on motivation, bias, etc.
SOCIAL SCIENCES in Web of Science Mostly of interest to Capstone and Honors for tracing author citations.
SOCIAL SCIENCES FULL TEXT A multi-disciplinary journal article database, scholarly and popular publications.
WORLDWIDE POLITICAL SCIENCE ABSTRACTS Political science and related fields, such as international relations, law,
government, and public administration/policy. Coverage is from 1967 to the
present. Languages other than English may be available.

International Relations
FIRST: Facts on International Relations and Security Trends Find statistics, chronologies and data on conflicts, arms/tech transfers and
military expenditures, information on international relations and security, states
and international organizations. A joint project of the International Relations and
Security Network (ISN) and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute
(SIPRI).
FRUSA (Foreign Relations of the United States) The official documentary historical record of major U.S. foreign policy decisions
and significant diplomatic activity. The series began in 1861 and now comprises
more than 350 individual volumes. The volumes published over the last two
decades increasingly contain declassified records from all the foreign affairs

TREATIES IN FORCE Published by the Department of State, provides information on treaties and other

The International Institute For Strategic Studies (IISS) Armed Conflict Database is a frequently updated source of information on armed conflicts worldwide. You can generate reports and download data as well as browse through the yearly analyses and fact sheets online.

From the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research Center. It is recommended that new users access the "thematic files" file as the primary step to understanding the arrangement of materials in this file. INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL STATISTICS Produced by the IMF (International Monetary Fund) contains downloadable time
series data from 1948 to the present for more than 200 countries and areas.

POLL TRACK from National Journal Group's Policy Central

A database of public opinion surveys from across the country with over 5,000 surveys on political races, important issues, and national figures. 

ROPER CENTER FOR PUBLIC OPINION RESEARCH/iPOLL

Roper Center is the largest archive of public opinion data in existence.  National exit polls and other election poll data available.  iPOLL is the only comprehensive database that provides access to these data, and contains half a million survey questions and answers asked in the US over the last 70+ years by more than 150 survey organizations. Tutorials available. Your initial data request will spawn a registration and request for your e-mail address.
WORLD DEVELOPMENT INDICATORS Produced by the World Bank, provides direct access to more than 600
development indicators, with time series for 208 countries and 18 country groups
from 1960 to 2005. Use Firefox browser for easy data export.
