Navy Retains Haines Trophy

Navy took four of five races against Harvard including a come-from-behind victory in the varsity event. Navy holds on to their #1 ranking as they sprint through #2 Harvard in the last 300 meters.

In the varsity race, Harvard took a commanding lead in the middle 1000 meters of the race. With 700 meters to go, Navy started to inch up on the Crimson but it wasn't until 300 meters to go that the Midshipmen made their final push to pass Harvard and win their third consecutive Haines Trophy.

Unbelievably, that wasn't the most exciting race of the day. The first freshmen race proved to be even closer with Navy coming from behind to take the lead on the last stroke of the race to win by one foot.

Navy went on to win four of the five races against Harvard, losing the 2V race by over seven seconds.

Next up for the Mids is Penn and Delaware on the Schuylkill River on May 9th.
