OutReach
Goals
One of the goals of the Midshipman Black Studies Club is to spearhead
outreach programs, ultimately getting the triad and brigade involved. As a family
we have a charge to give back and to invest into the lives of our people and
our community. And this is one way that we can make voices heard.
Covnenant House
Is a facility which provides shelter and aid across the nation to the
homeless. We will be assisting the DC chapter of the agency, by providing assistance
to the shelter.
Christmas in April
Is a project under District of Columbia Chapter of Rebuilding Together. The
main focus of this organization is for large corporations, schools, and industries
to establish a group and help restore low income and elderly homes. Christmas
in April is world renown.
Community Service in Annapolis
In the past MBSC has put a major emphasis on working on projects in
DC and other cities around Annapolis. However, we have missed a major area where
our services are needed. The city of Annapolis has many opportunities for midshipmen
to help out. Moreover, there are many parts of Annapolis in which midshipmen
don’t know about. This year we plan to become more involved in our immediate
community.
These projects are great opportunities for us to give back into the community
as well as bring us together as a cohesive unit, in a non traditional setting
by relying on the gifts and talents of one another.
