Suicide

Alcohol, Drugs and Suicide -- Just the Facts
 

1.  Suicide is Preventable.
2.  Alcoholism is a factor in about 30% of all completed suicides.
3.  Approximately 7% of those with alcohol dependence die by suicide.
4.  96% of alcoholics who commit suicide continue abusing alcohol to their death.
5.  Lower minimum-age drinking laws are positively correlated with higher youth suicide rates.
6.  An increased use of alcohol or drugs is a warning sign.
7.  A dependence on alcohol or drugs in addition to being depressed creates an even higher suicide risk.
