Congratulations to Ric Kempton, winner of the luxury weekend grand prize package in the 4th Annual Army-Navy Weekend Giveaway Contest.  The annual contest was hosted by Morale, Welfare and Recreation Annapolis in conjunction with MWR / Services in the National Capitol region.  Kempton’s name was drawn on November 12 from 261 entries submitted by “Forecast” readers from 17 military installations in the National Capital area.   The contest was promoted in the Fall issue of “Forecast,” the Joint Services Leisure Guide in the National Capitol area.

The luxury weekend package included four tickets to the 110th Army-Navy game (Navy side), four tickets to the pre-game tailgater and an autographed football sponsored by the Naval Academy Athletic Association; two hotel rooms for two nights, buffet breakfast for four people for two days and a $75 dinner gift certificate to Red Hot and Blue sponsored by Holiday Inn, Philadelphia-Cherry Hill;  weekend full-size car rental sponsored by Enterprise Rent-a-Car; and a dinner cruise for four sponsored by the Spirit of Philadelphia.

Kempton, a Department of Defense contractor at the Joint Spectrum Center Annapolis, entered the contest after picking up his copy of “Forecast” from the MWR Fitness Center at Naval Support Activity Annapolis where he exercises regularly.  Kempton, an Air Force retiree, vowed that he is a Navy fan except when Navy plays Air Force.  A 1976 graduate of the Air Force Academy, Kempton retired after serving 30 years - the last 15 as a reservist assigned to Ft. Belvoir.

MWR and Services thank Kris Whitacre and Chris Grosse from NAAA; the Philadelphia Sports Congress; Rick Johnson from Holiday Inn, and the Red, Hot and Blue Restaurant at the Holiday Inn, Cherry Hill NJ; Dorothy Rothman from Enterprise Rent-a-Car; Sarah Maloney from the Spirit of Philadelphia and John Rives, Comprint Military Publications, for their sponsorship and support of this contest.

Disclaimer:  Prizes were obtained via the Navy’s Commercial Sponsor and Partnership Program.  Neither the Navy nor any other part of the federal government officially endorses any company, sponsor or their products or services.
