ITT Travel Programs Requires Appointments For Better Customer Service

       Travel Planning is by appointment only or via email request.  Appointments are Monday-Friday from 0800-1500 and last one hour. E-mail requests should be sent to erin.reardon@navy.mil .  Walk -in service may result in a short wait to be seen.  Priority is given to those with appointments.  Call 410-293-9200 to make an appointment. 

 

FREE Passes for Baltimore Comedy Factory

             MWR ITT Outlet has free passes for the Baltimore Comedy Factory.  Passes are valid for free admission ($15 value) on any of the following dates: May 2, 3, 9, 10, 23 and 25.  Passes are available on a first come, first served basis from the MWR ITT Outlet in Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis with a valid DoD ID and signature.  A maximum of 4 are allowed per ID card.  There is a two drink minimum required including non-alcoholic soda, juice.  For more information, call 410-293-9200. 

 

 

 

Blue Jacket Cafe Serves Mother's Day Dinner

MWR Opens South Severn Swimming Pool May 25 through September 2

Pool Passes on Sale at Bldg. #89 Starting May 6

              MWR Annapolis offer an outdoor swimming pool - South Severn Pool, across from USNA Gate 8 - open during summer months only from May 25 through September 2.  The pool is open to active duty, retired military active reservists, current and retired DoD civilian employees (Civil Service and NAF), family members in all of these categories, USNA Contractors, Midshipmen at USNA, Naval Academy Athletic Association Personnel and USNA Alumni Association Personnel.  Pool hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 1200 to 1900 and holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day 1200-1900). 
              Swim passes, either full or half season are good  for frequent swimmers and are sold at the MWR Recreation Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis.  Daily fees apply for those without pool passes. 

              Swim lessons will be given in two 8-day sessions (June 18-28 and July 9-19 with registration on June 8 and June 29 from 0830-1030 at Bldg. #89.  

              The pool can be rented for private parties on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1900 to 2100 for a graduated fee structure dependent on whether you rent 1, 2 or all 3 pools at the South Severn Complex.

MWR Car Wash Available 24/7 - Credit Cards Accepted

                MWR's automated Car Wash operates 24/7 and is located between the Navy Exchange Service Station and the Mini-Mart.  Features include auto-wash bay for autos and a self-service bay for autos and one for RVs, vacuum, shampoo, air and a change machine.   $1 and $5 bills or credit cards may be used.  Car Wash Prices are $8/Basic; $9/Deluxe and $10/Ultimate.  For more information, call 410-293-9200.

MWR FREE Movies on Thursday Evenings

                MWR Recreation Services Shows movies every Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the theater of the Recreation Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis.  There is no admission charge. Some movies are "R" rated and therefore children 17 and under are not permitted.  On the third Thursday of each month, MWR presents "Chick-fil-A Mooo...vie Madness" free family movie night where all movies range from G to PG13 and free chicken sandwiches are given to 40 guests, first come, first served.  For more information, call 410-293-9200.  Upcoming movies include:

MWR Fitness Offers Spinning Classes and Boot Camp

                Spinning classes are offered at the MWR Annapolis Fitness Center, Recreation Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis on Mondays from 1730-1830,  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 0600-0700 and Saturdays from 0900-1000.     Spinning instructors are Lauren McCarthy and Michelle Beal.

                MWR Fitness also offers "Boot Camp" with Kim Elliott on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1115 to 1215. 

                All group exercise classes are free for active duty; $3/class for all others.  No advance signup is needed; pay just before entering the class.  For more information, call 410-293-9200.

 

Last Monthly Birthday Party in May at Billy the Kid Youth Center

Billy the Kid Youth Center – 4H Information and Needs

Outdoor Recreation Equipment Rentals

                MWR rents six-foot tables, folding chairs, a 5-foot charcoal grill, propane heater / cooker, folding picnic tables with umbrellas, four and six-man tents, 3-room cabins (10 x 16), speed-dome tents, sleeping bags, camp cots, air mats, camp chairs, ice chests, propane lanterns, flashlight lanterns, two-burner stoves, 10' x 10' canopies, kayaks and canoes on a daily basis, for the weekend or weekly to help you experience the great outdoors.
                MWR rents mountain bikes, bike helmets and sports equipment such as softball kits, hula hoops, badminton and croquets sets, basketballs, volleyballs and horseshoes. Also available are kayaks and canoes.
                MWR also rents three inflatables:  Jump/Slide Combo, Basketball Shooter, Obstacle Course on a daily basis.
                Hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday, 0730-1630.; Friday, 1200-2000.; Saturday 0900-1630. and Sunday, 1200-1630; closed on Holidays.  Weekend rentals mean a customer picks up items on Friday and returns them the following Monday.  For more information, call 410-293-9200.

 

 

 

MWR Blue Jacket Café: Dining, Catering and Coffee Cafe Service

        The Blue Jacket Cafe offers menu choices and carry-out service as well as a high-end coffee bar / deli area open throughout the day. The Blue Jacket Cafe offers catering services for a variety of functions and events.  The MWR-Blue Jacket Café is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  On weekends and federal holidays, the MWR-Blue Jacket Cafe is only open for brunch (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and dinner. The cost for brunch is $5.50 per person.

MWR Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy               Massage therapy is available by prior appointment.   MWR has a terrific massage therapist (Sharon) who specializes in soft tissue release, Swedish relaxation, deep tissue, prenatal, and myofacial release.  The MWR Massage Studio is located in the MWR Recreational Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis.  Customers must pay for their sessions prior to their appointment.  Cost is $45 for a ½ hour session; $70 for one hour and $100 for 90-minute session.  Gift certificates are available.   For an appointment, call Sharon at 410-279-2070.   Consider giving a gift certificate for Massage Therapy when you purchase your next gift. School Liaison Officer Position Broadens Navy’s Child-Youth Program
         The School Liaison Officer’s primary function is to provide transition support to DoD-eligible families with school-age children to ease the stress during frequent assignment moves and multiple deployments. The SLO is the focal point of contact between the installation commander, parents and the community at large and the local school administration. The School Liaison Officer will provide the following services: School Transition Services, Deployment Support, Liaison Communications, Partnerships in Education, Home School Link Support, Post-Secondary Preparation.   The School Liaison Officer position helps to level the playing field for military / DoD children by ensuring the student is able to attain the highest achievement at any assigned location. Free Respite Care Navy Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) - Respite Care helps Navy families who have children with special needs by providing up to 40 hours of respite care per month per EFMP Child. Eligible Navy families must: be enrolled in the EFMP program, reside in Maryland or Washington DC area, and have a child ranging in age from 0-18 that has special needs or a disability. 3. SOAR (Student Online Achievement Resources) Military children and their classmates now have access to SOAR (Student Online Achievement Resources). This online program provides students, parents and teachers with information about the educational standards in all 50 states and DoD schools overseas. SOAR’s focus is on math, reading and language arts for students in grades 3-12. Students can take a test on any of the state learning standards, receive immediate feedback, and be directed to a tutorial that will improve their skills, where needed. Child Development Center        The new, 21,000 square-foot CDC with 162 available spaces and the latest Unified Facilities Criteria, new furnishings and equipment is OPEN!       The Child Development Center of the U.S. Naval Academy Complex is operational and provides quality childcare, preschool and pre-K programs for active duty and DoD families, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.   Eligibility is open to active duty military, DoD civilian employees, reservists on active duty and full-time DoD contractors.  Priority access will be established on a waiting list. Volunteer Readers / Speakers Interact with CDC Children         The Child Development Program at Naval Support Activity Annapolis has a Guest Reader / Guest Speaker Program at the center, and is looking for volunteers to participate with the preschool age children.  Volunteers read a simple story from books provided by the CDC staff or one of their own favorite children’s book.   Reading sessions are held twice a month in the morning, usually during the first and third weeks of the month.   A reading session lasts about 10 to 15 minutes and is arranged to meet the volunteer’s and children’s schedules.  The center is also looking for guest speakers who would be willing to visit the center and “show and tell” the children what they do everyday.    Volunteers can range from homemakers to helicopter pilots.   A guest speaker is scheduled in the morning during the last week of the month.  Guest speaker sessions usually last 10 to 15 minutes.  To be a part of this exciting curriculum as a volunteer reader or speaker, please call the Training and Curriculum Specialist at 410-293-9391.

Child Development Home Program

CDH program offers self-employment as a child development provider to qualified persons living on and off base.   Providers attend 20 hours of orientation classes including CPR and First Aid.   National background checks are performed on all CDH providers.  Their homes are inspected by the Naval Academy fire department, safety office and preventive medicine department.  CDH program offers providers the opportunity to work in their home and watch their own children grow and develop while at the same time caring for children and earning an additional income.   CDH rates are subsidized by DoD to be comparable to Child Development Center rates.   CDH homes provide a warm, family setting in which children can participate in developmentally appropriate learning activities and home-life experiences.  The children are able to build a trusting relationship with a provider who will foster their curiosity and creativity, provide guidance and give them the hugs they need. 

CDH homes have space available for new children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.  Some providers also offer evening and weekend drop-in care.   If you need child care or would like to become a provider, call the CDH Monitor at 410-293-9395.

• School-Age Care Program
  Registration for the School-Age Care Program is ongoing at the Billy the Kid Youth Center, Naval Support Activity Annapolis.  The center is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.   The SAC program operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and from 3 to 5:30 p.m. (excluding federal holidays) and includes supervised activities such as arts and crafts, indoor / outdoor games, homework time and an afternoon snack.  Additional care will be provided for early dismissals, parent-teacher conferences, in-service days and snow days.  Anne Arundel County School Bus transportation is available before and after school to Annapolis Elementary and Severn River Middle. Van transportation provided by the Youth Center is available for before and after school care ONLY from West Annapolis Elementary School on a limited space basis.  Children are picked up by the Youth Center staff from West Annapolis Elementary School at 2:50 p.m. Program fees range from $23 to $152 bi-weekly per child based on total family income and depending on whether the child is enrolled in the before or after program or both sessions.  There is a 20% discount for each additional child enrolled. Parents need to bring a Leave and Earnings Statement or pay stub when registering their children. The program is open to dependents of all active duty, active reservists and DoD civilian employees and full-time contractors.
•  Hourly Care - is available at the Youth Center, except during Summer Camp, for $4/hour per child. Call the Youth
  Center in advance to arrange a spot for hourly care.

• Teen Fitness Program - weight training sessions and fitness workouts geared to enhance sports participation are offered by MWR Youth Programs at the Recreational Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis for kids ages 11-15 (must be at least in 6th grade) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. during the school year.  Teens need a permission slip signed by parents before participating.         The Billy the Kid Youth Center is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), an independent not-for-profit international accreditor of the full continuum of community-based behavioral health care and human service organizations. COA accreditation is an objective and reliable verification that provides confidence and support to an after school program's children and youth, parents, staff and community partners. COA accreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of both a program's administrative operations and its service delivery practices, measured against national standards of best practice. These standards emphasize services that are accessible, appropriate, culturally responsive, evidence based, and outcomes-oriented. The process confirms that services are provided by a skilled and supported workforce and that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. Boys & Girls Clubs of America Offer Character Building Program at NSA Annapolis

      The MWR Youth Center is a Member Affiliate Organization of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and offers teens the opportunity to be members of Torch Clubs.  Sponsored by Staples Foundation for Learning, Inc. and Staples, Inc., Torch Clubs help young people make a successful transition into late adolescence by fostering positive self-esteem and personal growth, building listening and speaking skills and reinforcing academic achievement.   Torch Clubs also play a vital role in day-to-day running of a club, using critical peer-to-peer interaction to build positive character traits and interpersonal skills among pre-teens.  Torch Club members become role models and ambassadors for promoting character, tolerance, diversity and inclusion, and each year, hundreds of Torch Club youth conduct service projects in their Clubs and communities proving they are on their way to becoming responsible, caring citizens and leaders.  We want to provide our Navy youth with the same opportunities.  If you would be interested in learning more about our program for your child, please contact Teen Coordinator at 410-293-4998 .

Auto Skills Shop     The self-help Auto Skills Shop has eight automotive bays (four with hydraulic lift) and a variety tools and equipment, including a Diagnostic Scanner, a tire mounter, timing light, electric drill, wash tank, grease tank, brake lathe, hoists, engine stands, Snap-on tools, tire balancer and puller set.   Bay time is $3/hour; $5/hour with a lift.  Check on your vehicle with the shop’s new “All Data” computer car manual program for information on recalls, service bulletins and make / model updates.  The shop is open Fridays from 12:30 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.  The shop is closed Monday through Thursday and federal holidays. MWR FAMCAMP (MWR operates the FAMCAMP on Naval Support Activity Annapolis and are for use by active duty, retired military, active reservists, DoD civilian employees (active and retired with ID), Midshipmen, and USNA Contractors.  Proper ID must be presented when checking in. Facilities include a concrete pad, water and electric at each of the 14 RV sites, a central dump station and bathhouse with hot showers year-round. Carr Creek Marina Boat Hauling Season  and Winter Hours in Effect          Carr Creek Marina is located on the east end of Naval Support Activity Annapolis and is open to all Department of Defense customers, including active duty of all services, DoD civilian employees, military retirees, reservists and family members.       The Marina has slips, moorings and dry storage for boats. There is a storage lot for recreational vehicles, boats on trailers and popup campers (no automobiles) and priority is given to active duty housing residents at the Annapolis complex. Haulouts are done by appointment only, M-F.          Carr Creek Marina also operates the CDR John L. Dunning, Jr. Pier at Mill Creek off Greenbury Point, NSA Annapolis. The pier is designated as a "Clean Marina Partner" by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources under the Clean Marina Program. The pier has 32 slips for year-round in-water berthing. Eligible patrons interested in renting a marina slip at Mill Creek can fill out an application (applications can be downloaded from the webpage: http://www.usna.edu/MWR/millcreekapplication.htm  and mailed to MWR Carr Creek Marina, 89 Bennion Road, Naval Support Activity Annapolis, MD 21402-5058. Marina slips vary in size and some slips accommodate boats up to 40'. A priority list will be used if slip requests exceed the number of slips available.          During summer months, May through September, the Marina rents power boats, sailboats and canoes.  The sailing fleet includes 22-foot Capris and 24-foot Rainbows.  Rental power boats include 15 and 17-foot Whalers.  Rental fees are listed at http://www.usna.edu/MWR/marinarental-storagefees.htm            Weekend basic keelboat sailing courses run from mid-May to early September. Weekday sessions are held Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and all day Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Successful completion earns a "B" qualification card. Lessons cost $220/person and must be booked by reservation. The cost includes course materials.  Because of their popularity, a waiting list is maintained throughout the year. MWR Party Room and Pavilion Rentals            MWR rents party rooms and picnic pavilions.  Retelle Room is located on Naval Support Activity Annapolis and accommodates approximately 80 people.  There are kitchen facilities and restrooms.  It also has a brick BBQ with grill (currently being renovated), a covered patio and is adjacent to a softball field (field must be booked separately).          MWR also rents the Bay Room located at Greenbury Point.  The Bay Room accommodates 80 people.  It offers similar features as the Retelle Room plus a view of the Chesapeake Bay.  It is available year-round with heat and / or air conditioning.   Balloon Bouquets with 12" balloons may be ordered 48 hours in advance for your events at a cost of $9 per dozen for latex (limit of 3 dozen per rental).   Balloons may be picked up on the day of the event at the MWR Recreational Services Bldg. #89.  Rental fee for the Retelle Room or Bay Room is $65 plus a $150 refundable deposit.  Reservations may be made no more than three months in advance.         MWR also offers the use of outdoor pavilions at Naval Support Activity Annapolis.    North Severn Pavilions A & B are located across the street from North Severn Pool.   Retelle Pavilion is located on the Severn River at Retelle Beach, past the RV campground and Mill Creek Pavilion is located near the CDR John L. Outdoor Recreation Equipment Rentals                          MWR rents six-foot tables, folding chairs, a 5-foot charcoal grill, propane heater / cooker, folding picnic tables with umbrellas, four and six-man tents, 3-room cabins (10 x 16), speed-dome tents, sleeping bags, camp cots, air mats, camp chairs, ice chests, propane lanterns, flashlight lanterns, two-burner stoves, 10' x 10' canopies, kayaks and canoes on a daily basis, for the weekend or weekly to help you experience the great outdoors.                 MWR rents mountain bikes, bike helmets and sports equipment such as softball kits, hula hoops, badminton and croquets sets, basketballs, volleyballs and horseshoes.  Kayaks and canoes are also available for rent.                 MWR also rents three inflatables:  Jump/Slide Combo, Basketball Shooter, Obstacle Course on a daily basis.                Weekend rentals mean a customer picks up items on Friday and returns them the following Monday.   Hours: Monday-Thursday 0730-1630 Friday 1200-2000 Saturday 0900-1630 Sunday 1200-1630 Holidays - Closed Weekend rental means that customers pick up items on Friday and return items the following Monday.  Call 410-293-9200
