  1. USNA Webmasters Users Group WWW Page :

    • See http://www.usna.edu/Masters This page is a collection of resources to assist the Academy's Webmasters develop their pages. It has questions, answers, policy, guidelines, etc.

    • Review WWW Policy. Please take time to review the USNA WWW Policy to be sure that your pages conform the USNA Policy. There have been major changes made since our last meeting !

    • Review Guidelines. This is a set of useful guidelines to be considered as you create your pages. There have been major changes made since our last meeting !

    • Review Webmasters List. Please check through the list and e-mail me with any additions or corrections.


  2. Development Plan

    USNA WWW Development Plan Committees have been meeting for the past several months.  To review the work that has been done, please see the USNA WWW Development Plan Notes.


  3. New WWW Resources are Available

    Computer Services has introduced a couple of new resources for web developers :
    • Operations is running a program called LinkBot that checks the links on your pages for dead links. Terry Hallow will email you a report.
    • There is a new program available to process forms. For more information, please see the instructions on the use of Y-Form and FormMail.


  4. Webster Upgrades

    The staff in Ward Hall has been upgrading the main WWW server. Webster has a new 9-gig drive for additional storage requirements.


  5. NT Support

    Ward Hall has made an NT machine available for WWW applications. Public Works has found an application that requires an NT solution. The NT box is available for anybody in the Yard requiring NT for WWWW applications.


  6. WWW Courseware Evaluation

    Prof R.J. Goodman is leading a team that will be evaluating WWW courseware. Please contact her if you are interested in working on this project.


  7. Advanced Tool Selection Update

    Currently, the Naval Academy has declared Netscape Composer as the entry level development tool for web pages. We would like to establish an advanced tool standard. If you are interested in working on the evaluation team, please call me at 31428.


  8. Log Analysis Tool Selection

    We are evaluating several log analyzer tools to generate monthly usage reports. Currently, Webtrend's Log Analyzer is the leading choice. A final decision is coming soon.


  9. Training

    Prof Ernie Tucker established the first web development course. Additional instructors have stepped forward to teach the course. Many thanks to Ernie and the crew.
