Being a draft text, there are bound to be errors.
The following lists those found to date.
Chapter 1
p. 1.21 - A and B are negatively correlated if Prob(A|B)<Prob(A), not greater than.
p. 1.44 - #8. 10% should be 90%
Chapter 2
p. 2.25 - #10(b) 0.26=Prob(REPUBLICANS win). Prob(Democrats)=1-0.26
10 (c) - Answer given is way off. The various races
are probably NOT independent because they may all be affected
by the same factors.
Chapter 3
p.3.15 - Prob(Max<10,000) should be Prob(Max>10,000)
p3.23 - #7(e) should read "75% sure that my wife …"
#2(d) answer should be 2479 hrs
#5(c) answer should be 1-0.21468/0.5438 = 1-0.39478 = 0.6052
#10 (a) answer should be PCDF(L=1/2,T=5,X=3)=0.7576
#10 (b) answer should be solve X=3, not X=2. T=3.5 hrs with prob 0.8992
#10 (c) answer should be solve X=3, not X=2. T=13.35 with prob 0.1004
Chapter 4
#7(a), answer should be 1-0.9332
#16(b) answer should be 1.26
#16(c) answer should be 88.5, with prob 0.0961
#16(d) answer should be 106.5 with prob 0.9039
Chapter 5
On p. 5.8, the formula for E(Y) should have F'(t), not F(t). The
second line of the equation is correct.
#1(b) on p. 5.21, answer should be (0.09083)^0.5 = 0.30138
#2(c) on p.5.21, better answer is 1073
