The calculator understands "greater than," "less than," "equal to," "greater
than or equal to," "less than or equal to,"
and "not equal to." Placing these relations between numbers or expressions
produces statements, which become "true" or
"false" when you substitute numbers for the variables
in the expressions. The calculator can also solve
equations: it will
find values for the variables which make the equation a true statement.
It won't solve inequalities.
You can also combine these statements with "not," "and," "or," or "xor"
(one or the other but not both) to get more
complex statements.
All these symbols are available from the HOME screen via the MATH menu, under Tests. (The MATH menu is 2nd 5.)
You can also find the equality and inequality symbols on the keyboard.
They're the same key combinations on both the
TI-92+ and the TI-89. They're also in the CATALOG;
the symbols come before "a."

"Equal to," "less than," and "greater than."
"Not equal to," "less than or equal to," and "greater than or equal to."
You can also get these with ><, <=, and =>.
