USNA MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT SAMPLE GATEWAY QUIZZES

Gateway quizzes are given in Calculus I and II to ensure some minimal competency with certain computational abilities without the use of calculators, computers, or tables. Students must get at least 9 of 10 correct in 10 minutes or get a grade of zero for the quiz. However, retests (using similar but slightly changed versions) are given. Below are samples of the 3 types of gateway quizzes currently in use.

  1. Precalculus Gateway (for use in Calculus I): pdf format.
  2. Derivative Gateway (for use in Calculus I): pdf format.
  3. Integral Gateway (for use in Calculus II): pdf format.
  4. Answer Key for all three Gateways: pdf format.
