A conference in honor of Anthony Gaglione's 60th birthday

Tony Gaglione of the Naval Academy at Annapolis has made many important contributions to several areas of Infinite Group Theory and Combinatorial Group Theory. These include nilpotent groups and the commutator calculus, model theory of free groups and the theory of discriminating groups. He is the author or coauthor of more than 60 journal articles representing various aspects of infinite group theory. He is also authored or coauthored three books. Along with Dennis Spellman he proved a seminal result on universally free groups (done independently by Remeslennikov) that was one of the primary steps leading to the solution of the Tarski problems.

A conference in honor of his sixtieth birthday will be held March 10,2007 at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. This will be an opportunity to both honor Prof. Gaglione and to bring people together workers who are working in infinite group theory. The main speakers are people who have worked directly with Tony.


Schedule:
We will begin Friday at 9;45 with coffee - opening remarks at 10 and the first talk at 10:15. There will be two talks in the morning and four in the afternoon and then a dinner at 6:00 in the same building.

Fairfield University is located on a beautiful campus about 45 miles from New York City and 30 miles from New Haven. It is easy to reach from all New York airports.
