This ECA has several major functions. It serves a means by which to honor and recognize midshipmen who excel in the rigorous studies involved with pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. It provides a means by which to conduct scholarly discussions and free exchange of ideas not only among midshipman, but with other engineering schools throughout the nation and the world. Lastly, the members of Pi Tau Sigma continue to be an integral part of the local science community by assisting with local and regional competitions, science fairs, and young engineering outreach programs
