Mosques of Kuwait

The State of Kuwait has a number of unique mosques, most of which are located in smaller neighborhoods scattered throughout the emirate. In addition, Kuwait is the site of several important archaeological sites, some dating to the pre-Islamic period such as the ruins of the fourth century CE church in Shuwaykh port and the Bronze Age remains on Failaka Island including the Greek city of Ikaros settled by one of Alexander the Great's generals. The Tareq Rajab Museum, a privately held collection, contains one of the finest collections of Islamic firearms, swords, and calligraphy.
