Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center, conveniently located on the United States Naval Academy, inside Gate 1 at the end of King George Street. Everyone 16 and older must have a photo ID. Only vehicles with DoD stickers or handicapped tags may enter Naval Academy grounds. |

The centerpiece of the Graduates in Space exhibit is the Freedom 7 space capsule, flown into space in 1961 by Naval Academy graduate Alan B. Shepard, Jr. (Class of 1945). |

Other displays in the Visitor Center include a Sample Midshipman's Room, the original figurehead of Tamanend off the USS Delaware(from which the Statue of Tecumseh was cast), a model of the USS MARYLAND (BB46) and an extensive exhibit on the life and times of John Paul Jones, famous Revolutionary war naval hero who is buried in the crypt beneath the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel.

Take Exit 24, Rowe Blvd. Stay in right lane, proceed to Church Circle. Take the 4th right onto Duke of Gloucester St. Turn left onto Green St. Annapolis City Dock is 1 block. From the Annapolis City Dock, walk 1 block on Randall St. to Gate 1, the entrance of USNA. RECOMMENDED PARKING All day parking is available at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium, Rowe Blvd., with free shuttle service to Annapolis City Dock; in the Noah Hillman Parking Garage, accessible from Duke of Gloucester St.; or 2 hour parking meters around the City Dock. |

The USNA Guide Service provides public walking tours throughout the year so you can experience life on the yard. Catch noon meal formation as the Brigade of Midshipmen forms for uniform inspection before lunch.

HISTORICAL TOUR - Highlights life at the U.S. Naval Academy past and present. Tour includes
Lejeune Hall, Bancroft Hall, Tecumseh Court, Herndon Monument, Chapel (when open), and crypt
of John Paul Jones. One hour and 15 minutes.
TOUR & TEA - Special tour of the Academy and Museum with tea at the Officers' and Faculty
Club. Minumum: 16. Tour begins at 1:30 pm.; tea served at 3:00 pm. Only available Monday
through Wednesday.
MILITARY REUNION TOUR - Designed for those who participated in the U.S. military
operations. Focuses on Naval Academy's role in supplying officers and midshipmen in various
conflicts. Features include chapel (when open) and crypt of John Paul Jones. Tour includes audio-
visual presentation and walking tour. Two hours 30 minutes.
JEWISH CHAPEL & LEVY CENTER TOUR - Center named for Jewish naval officer, Commodore
Uriah P. Levy, who held command positions for Presidents Monroe, Jackson, Tyler and Lincoln. Levy
restored Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
AFRICAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE TOUR - Highlights service of African-Americans at the Naval Academy
as well as their participation in the history of the U.S. Navy. One hour 30 minutes.

NAVY WAY BOOT CAMP - 1st - 5th grades - Recruits learn Navy terms and traditions...they
march, chant and follow orders. One hour.
EDUCATIONAL TOUR - 4th - 12th grades - Based on elementary, middle or high school curriculum.
Tour provides students an opportunity to use visual skills and to utilize information as part of
their learning experience. Educational materials available for teachers. One hour.
AFRICAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE TOUR - Described under Adult tours.

TOURS FOR PRE-FORMED GROUPS OF 16+ are available daily except for Thanksgiving, Christmas
Day, New Year's Day and some days during Commissioning Week. |

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR BUS ENTRY INTO THE YARD - Only the Naval Academy Guide Service has permission from U.S. Naval Academy security to bring bus groups into the yard. Names of bus companies and escorts must be received AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE of tour. |

NAVY WAY BASIC BOOT CAMP
SATURDAYS, July 19 & August 23, 2008
Youngsters, ages 6-12, experience what it's like to be a
swabbie. Recruits are issued a Dixie cup cap...they learn Navy terms, how to march, chant and take
orders. They eat in a simulated Mess. Two hour sessions are scheduled in January, February, July
and August. Cost is $32.00, which includes Dixie cup cap, training and lunch (two slices of pizza

begins at 9a.m. with a march from the visitors center to the crypt of
john Paul Jones beneath the U.S. naval academy chapel for a
wreath laying. The march is accompanied by drums and pipe. The days
events include a lecture on the life and times of John Paul Jones,
cannon loading demonstrations and musical presentations by the pipes and
drums of Prince and Williams III. Children's activities include knot
tying ,marlinspike seamanship, linoleum rubbing, making and decorating a
paper hat and coloring activities for younger children. John Paul Jones
will sign warrants and pay is crew of volunteers sailors in script
(Reproduction paper money of the time.) Call 410-293-8111 for directions

Public Tours for tour Fees. Navy Way Advanced Boot Camp Graduates of Basic Boot
Camp, ages 9-12, Learn advanced marching, how to read semaphore flags
and marlinspike seamanship. Both camps maybe taken on the same day,
basic in the morning and Advanced for two and one half hours in the
afternoon. Cost is $32.00 and covers all materials. Call 410-293-8111 or
