  • Channel Design Criteria – A comparison of PIANC and USACE design criteria (Speakers: Dr. Ian Dand, Technical Director, Haslar Lab, UK and Mr. Dennis Webb, Waterways Experiment Station, USACE)

  • Ship maneuverability as a design consideration (Speaker: Dr. Katsuro Kijima, NAME Dept, Kyushu Univ.)

  • Ship controllability in dredged channels (Speakers: Capt J. Cook, USCG and Capt Mike Watson, APA)

These breakout sessions are intended to provide a forum for an open discussion of the three highlighted areas.  Participants are encouraged to focus on the following questions:

  • What is the current situation?

  • What is the desired situation?

  • Why is there a difference between the current situation and the desired situation?

  • What are the impediments to change?

  • How can these impediments be most effectively addressed?
