Basketball/Baseball
This season will be Terry Pfeufer’s third year at the
Naval Academy Prep School as Men’s Basketball Head Coach.
Terry has recently been appointed as the school’s Head
Baseball Coach.
NAPS’ win total improved during the last two seasons
under Terry. Last year, the team had notable wins over
Marianapolis Prep, St. Thomas More Prep and CCRI.
Terry’s coaching career started while an undergraduate
in college. During his senior year at Robert Morris University,
Terry accepted an assistant position with the institution’s
women’s basketball team. Prior to coaching, Terry was
a player on the men’s basketball team.
Other coaching stops have included Elk County Catholic
High School, University at Buffalo, United States
Merchant Marine Academy, Genesee Community College,
and UMass Lowell.
While attending Robert Morris, he received a degree in
Business Administration. He achieved his Masters’ degree
from the University at Buffalo in Higher Education
Administration.

Football
Mick enters his 2nd year as the Head Football Coach at
NAPS. Mick has coached or played in the Navy Football
program for 8 years. His record last year at NAPS
was 6 – 4, which was the best record at NAPS since
2003. Mick also called the offensive plays last season,
the offense averaged 281 yards rushing and 171 yards
passing which both averages where the most yards by
the offense since 2003. Last year the NAPS Football
team had the highest graduation rate in recent years.
Previous to becoming the Head Coach Mick was the Quarterback
and Fullback coach, Assistant Offensive Coordinator
and Special Teams Coordinator at NAPS.
Mick graduated from the United States Naval Academy in
2006 with a bachelor's of Science degree specializing
in Economics. He was a 3 year letter winner and a
2 year starter for the Football Team as a Wide Receiver.
Mick received the Cooke Memorial Football Award his
senior season, which is awarded to the member of the
Naval Academy's Varsity football team deemed to have
been the most influential in promoting Navy Football
over his four years in the program. He was commissioned
as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps
and spent one season as an assistant coaching Navy
Football, where he worked with the Quarterbacks and
Fullbacks. He then spent 6 months training with the
Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia before becoming
medically retired.
Mick resides in Newport, Rhode Island with his wife Lindsey
and son Bryce.

J.P. is entering his second season as the defensive coordinator
at NAPS, and first year as the Associate Head Coach.
Last year the NAPS defensive had a very successful
season accumulating 55 sacks and gave up 19 points
per game. J.P. also coached for five seasons at Mercyhurst
College located in Erie, PA. During his five years
at Mercyhurst, J.P. had the privilege to coach several
all conference players. J.P. is a 2002, graduate of
Bryant University located in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
He was a standout in the bulldog's secondary, where
he led the team in interceptions as a sophomore. Shevory
graduated with a degree in finance and at one point
J.P. made the Dean's List for four consecutive semesters.

Coach James was born in Ahoskie, North Carolina. After
high school, he attended North Carolina A&T in 1992
where he started every game as a true freshman on
a conference winning team. He went on to start 2 more
years at defensive end before moving to middle linebacker
for his senior year. As a senior Toran was named to
the preseason All-American list, however four games
into the season he suffered a torn ACL, which in turn
became a season ending injury. In 1997 Toran James
was drafted by the San Diego Chargers. He played one
year and in 1998 joined the Seattle Seahawks. In 1999,
Toran signed with the Green Bay packers and in 2000
Toran played with the Carolina Cobras of the arena
league. In 2001, he was drafted by the XFL Las Vegas
outlaws. In 2001-2002 Toran played for the Detroit
fury of the arena league and he finished his career
with the Columbus Destroyers (AFL) in 2005. Toran
has spent the last four years as a Sport Performance
Specialist as well as coaching High School football.

Anthony Ramel Gaskins ... Born-6/17/86. Three-year letter
winner in football and track (two at Essex Catholic
(East Orange, NJ) and one at St. Peter's Prep(Jersey
City, NJ)) ... at St. Peter's Prep as a senior, his
team won the state championship in track and the county
championship in football... A three-year letter winner
and two year starter for Naval Academy football team
at left guard… played in 43 career games starting
the last 26 straight… Named to the College Football
Writers Association of America All-American Watch
List heading into his senior year… Part of an offensive
line which paved the way to 4 straight NCAA rushing
titles… Was a member of the 2007 offensive unit which
set school records for points scored (511), rushing
yards per game (348.8 ypg) and total offense per game
(444.1 ypg)… former NFL defensive back Deron Cherry
is his cousin ... a drag racing enthusiast ... has
his license to race ... won the 2007 Poinsettia Bowl
Go-Cart Grand Prix against his teammates during bowl
week ...Graduated from the United States Naval Academy
on May 22, 2009 and accepted a commission into the
United States Navy as an Ensign.

Eric Noreddine Kettani was born on March 26, 1987 and
was raised in Kirtland, Ohio. He is the son of Mounir
and Collette Kettani in addition to an older brother,
Amir: Three-year letter winner in football at Lake
Catholic High School ...was the News-Herald Player
of the Year and the Cleveland Plain-Dealer Defensive
Player of the Year as a senior ... was named First-Team
All-Northeast Ohio and earned all-state honors. He
attended the United States Naval Academy and graduated
on May 22, 2009 earning himself a commission as an
Ensign in the United States Navy. Part of an offensive
unit which paved the way to 4 straight NCAA rushing
titles While at the Naval Academy he ranked in the
top 10 in all-time leading rushers, and helping the
Midshipmen to four straight Commander and Chief Trophies.
He was invited to play in the Under Armour Senior
Bowl, NFL Combine and is currently on the New England
Patriots.

Joseph Antre Taylor was born April 25, 1986 in Kilmarnock,
Virginia. Had a decorated high school career ... earned
four letters in football and four in basketball at
Washington & Lee High School in Montross, Virginia...
was the Virginia Class A State Player of the Year
his sophomore year as he led Washington & Lee to the
state championship ... was named second-team all-state
as a defensive back his sophomore year ... holds every
game, season and career passing record at his high
school ...Played quarterback, safety, and outside
linebacker at Navy but mostly served as a mentor and
Bible study leader for his teammates. He was commissioned
a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps
on May 22nd,2009 and will attend the Basic School
in Quantico, Virginia upon completion of his tour
as offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach at the
Naval Academy Preparatory school.

Ketric Buffin was born in Dallas, Texas on October 22,
1985. He attended most of his elementary school in
Dallas until he moved to Rowlett, TX in the eighth
grade. While at Rowlett High School he went on to
become a two year letter winner in basketball, football,
and track while earning all district honors in football.
After graduating with honors, a Texas Scholar, and
a member of the National Honor Society, he went on
to attend the Naval Academy Preparatory School in
Newport, Rhode Island where he played football and
began to understand the meaning of brotherhood. While
there he earned special teams recognition and also
began to build my reputation as a Navy defensive football
player. He enrolled at the Naval Academy in 2005 where
as a freshman he played in six games, and started
in three. He also returned his first interception
for a touchdown in his second start against Tulane.
Ketric went on to start the remainder of his career
at Navy, and in doing so had the opportunity to compete
against some of the best football players in the nation.
He racked up nine career interceptions. Ketric graduated
in May of 2009 and was commissioned into the United
States Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant. Now that
his playing career is over he has moved to the other
side of the whistle where he hopes to find a new calling
as a coach.

Lacrosse
Brian Stewart is entering his Fourth season as the Head
Lacrosse coach at NAPS. Last year the NAPS lacrosse
team had a very successful season. Under the leadership
of Coach Stewart 31 former Napsters have gone on to
play lacrosse for the Naval Academy. Coach Stewart
is also the academic liaison for the lacrosse team
and works as a PE assistant. Coach Stewart has also
been the head coach at North County High School in
Maryland, where he coached many talented players,
who have gone on to have very successful college careers.
Coach Stewart started his coaching career as an assistant
at Glenvernie High School, where he developed into
a defensive mastermind. Coach Stewart played for Limestone
College, where he played in three Division II National
Championship games, and won two of them.

Soccer
Nathan Stokes comes to NAPS as a recent graduate from
the Naval Academy Class of 2009. Upon his graduation
from the Naval Academy he was commissioned as a 2nd
Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Nathan
played soccer at NAPS and with the varsity program
until his sophomore year at the Naval Academy before
becoming the Club Team Captain his final two years.
He played his club soccer for the Houston Texans Soccer
Club in high school, going to Nationals his senior
season and maintaining a national standing in the
previous years. Born in Missouri City, Texas, Nathan
grew up in Sugar Land, Texas just south of Houston.
He graduated from the Naval Academy with a degree
in Ocean Engineering and will attend The Basic School
in Quantico, Virginia following his season at NAPS.

Wrestling
LeRoy Gardner graduated from Wartburg College (Waverly,
IA) in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology,
and he is currently an Masters of Business Administration
candidate at The University of Rhode Island, College
of Business. He was a 3-time All-American while wrestling
Heavyweight for Wartburg College and winning the National
Championship during his senior season. This finish
helped contribute to a team National Championship
and the setting of four NCAA records. Additionally
he competed extensively in Freestyle and Greco-Roman,
highlighted by a 5th place finish at Senior World
Team Trials in Greco-Roman and 8th place finish at
Fila Jr. World Championships.
He was directly commissioned in 2006 as a Ensign in the
United States Navy, prior to that helped coach his
alma mater to national runners-up and a National Championship.
He was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade in 2008.
NAPS is currently two-time defending NCWA Northeast Conference
champions, with 11 All-Americans and 4 National Champions.
The team has placed fourth and third at NCWA Nationals.
