DCCM (SW/AW) Frank G. King, USN Command Master Chief

Master Chief Frank G. King is a native of Abilene, Texas. He entered the Navy in September 1986, at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of basic training, he attended a twelve week Hull Maintenance Technician Class “A” School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.


His initial fleet assignment was USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63), home ported in San Diego, California. While onboard, he completed a world cruise returning back to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following his initial sea tour, Master Chief King reported to USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44), home ported in Little Creek, Virginia, where he made one Mediterranean Sea Deployment.


Master Chief King reported to Pre-Commissioning Unit SUPPLY (AOE 6) in 1993. After commissioning USS SUPPLY (AOE 6), he advanced to Chief Petty Officer and volunteered for Recruiting Duty at Navy Recruiting District Richmond, Virginia. Upon a successful tour in Recruiting, he attended Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Defense (CBR-D) school in Fort McClellan, Alabama, and Senior Enlisted Damage Control School in San Diego, California.


After three months of training, he reported to USS MITSCHER (DDG 57) in July 1999. He served as Repair Division Leading Chief Petty Officer and completed a deployment to the Persian Gulf. In December 2001, he reported to USS SAIPAN (LHA 2) where he served as Ship’s Fire Marshal. After his tour onboard SAIPAN, Master Chief King graduated from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy class 105.


In March 2003, he reported to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), home ported in Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as Engineering Department Leading Chief Petty Officer while making a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In April 2005, Master Chief King reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, where he completed Recruit Division Commander School.


Master Chief King is currently serving as the Command Master Chief of the Naval Academy Preparatory School, Newport, Rhode Island.


Master Chief King’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards); Good Conduct Medal (5 awards); and a variety of unit and campaign awards.
