Jamboree 2010 |

Future NESA Jamboree Participants, I would like to welcome you to the home of the USNA-NESA 2010 Jamboree! All of us at the Naval Academy are excited about this yearly event and hope that we can provide yet another great opportunity for interested Scouts to come and visit us in Annapolis, MD. For those of you that have attended this event before, WELCOME BACK! For those who have not attended, we hope to see you this year! If you attended last year, you are aware of the new program we started to reach out to inner-city Baltimore Scouters who are part of the Scout Reach Program. As a Scouting family, we feel it is important that everyone be able to experience the Naval Academy and the great opportunity the NESA Jamboree provides for Boy Scouts. As such, this year we will be running the same program. One of our goals is to increase our Scout Reach participants by 3x, allowing 60-80 Scout Reach Scouts to participate in the 2010 Jamboree. We ask that ALL Troops applying for the Jamboree this year keep that in mind and provide us with a reasonable estimate as to how many additional Scouts you will be able to accommodate. Once the event starts on Friday, the Scout Reach participants will be paired with other participating Troops and will stay with them until the conclusion of the Jamboree. Accommodations for the Scout Reach Scouters should include food, camping accommodations, and adult supervision. As more information about the Jamboree becomes available, it will be posted on this website. Please feel free to contact me or anyone on my staff if you have questions or concerns and we will respond as soon as we can. Once again, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible join us this year and thank you for all of the help and support you have all provided for us. It is a privilege for us as Midshipmen to be able to give back to the community which has provided so much for us throughout the years. Very Respectfully, Will Cunha |

January 2010 Update ***
After looking over all of the applications and talking with the NESA Staff, we have decided to invite everyone that applied to the Jamboree this year We feel that moving back to YMCA Camp Letts and with the staff we have in place, we will be able to support the amount of interest we had this year. We are excited to offer this opportunity to so many people this year and look forward to hosting you all in January. Everyone should have received the “Registration Packet” for the 2010 Jamboree. The document is written in Excel, so please let us know if you have trouble opening it. Some things to keep in mind when filling this sheet out:
For an overview of what the program is going to be this year, the OPS team has been hard at work designing a very exciting and different program. Our goal is for all Scouts to earn at least 1 merit badge. Activities throughout the day will include team-building events, small unit tactics, leadership exercises, trying on military gear, close-order drill and uniform inspections, as well as recreational activities throughout the day. Please inform your Scouts that this will be an action-packed, eventful weekend. There are still a lot of plans in the works of which we hope to be able to inform you soon. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please send them our way. 1/C Alex Thiess (m106558@usna.edu) will be collecting the registration packets, so please be sure to email him the registration form when you are done filling it out. Very Respectfully, Will Cunha |
