Jamboree 2009

Good Day!  As many of you may know, NESA has encountered problems (along with every other Extra Curricular Activity) hosting an event on USNA grounds.  NESA has finally settled on an alternative to our JAMBO that we have traditionally held here at USNA.  We are currently passing up the chain a Camporee which includes 4-5 Merit Badges outdoors (Orienteering, pioneering, etc) as well as offering a Trail to First Class.  This will be similar to First Year programs seen at most Summer Camps.  To make this event special, we will also offer to all participants the opportunity to earn the BSA’s Historic Trail Award, making use of the Colonial Annapolis Historic Trail.  This will include a tour of the USNA.  As the program has narrowed in Merit Badges but widened in who is eligible to come (all scouts, not just First Class and up) we are reducing our acceptance to 800 Youth.

We will also be merging Troops with Units from Inner City Baltimore.  If your unit is selected, you may be paired with one of these troops.  Also, we may request a proportionate level of Campership Funds from your troop this year in order to promote the ScoutReach program and its participants.

Please understand that this form is not a registration, but simply a means to gauge response and prepare an application.  If your troop is selected as a participant, you will be notified in the coming weeks, hopefully by Mid-November.  Thank you again for your support of this program, and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact either myself or the Jamboree Coordinator. Our contact information is listed on the Staff Web Page!

Respectfully,

Todd R. Talstein

NESA President
