KINGSTON, RI (Saturday, November 11, 2006) -- For the second consecutive
night, the University of Rhode Island scored a pair of third period goals to
break open a close game and defeat Navy's ice hockey team, 5-2, in a hard
fought Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ECHA) clash Saturday night at
the Brad Boss Arena.

The Midshipmen dropped to 7-4-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the ECHA, while the
victorious Rams improved to 13-2-0 and 12-0-0 in the ECHA.

Navy jumped out to a quick lead Saturday night when Nick Schwob fired a shot
past URI netminder Anthony Feyock while the Mids were on a power play.
Kevin Krmpotich and Jim Doherty picked up assists, although it was a perfect
screen by Joe Liles that allowed the puck to sneak past Feyock at the 2:12
mark.

The Rams tied the score before the period ended with an even strength goal
at 7:18, just seconds after Navy had killed off a URI power play.

In the second stanza, URI scored a pair of unanswered goals, the first on
the power play at 8:14 and the second at 18:52, to grab a 3-1 lead entering
the third period.

The Midshipmen came out aggressively in the third period and pulled to
within 3-2 on a goal from Joe Liles just 1:04 into period, assists going to
Krmpotich and Matt Swezey.

But the Rams pulled away with an even strength goal at 3:42, and then put
the game out of reach with a short-handed empty net tally with just 45
seconds showing on the Brad Boss Arena scoreboard clock.

Navy netminder Eric Anderson finished the night with 36 saves while his
counterpart Feyock recorded 23, as the Rams outshot the Mids, 40-25.

Navy is idle until next Friday when the Mids face Maryland at the Gardens
Ice House in Laurel. Opening face-off is set for 8 p.m.
