Dr. Doran entered the Navy in July of 1991. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford, Connecticut. Dr. Doran completed internship training at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia. After internship, he completed his first tour at Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital. This 150-bed Naval Hospital offered inpatient and outpatient service in Jacksonville, North Carolina, for active duty personnel and eligible beneficiaries. Dr. Doran was one of three psychologists in the Navy to have admission privileges to a major medical center. He then completed his post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Doran completed his second tour at Branch Medical Clinic, Iwakuni, Japan. Clinical and administrative duties for this position included coordinating the efforts of 27 professionals in meeting the mental health needs of the adults & children. He was the only pediatric neuropsychologist in the Asian-Pacific area involved in a number of difficult and sensitive cases in Japan and Korea. After completing SERE school in Coronado, CA, Dr. Doran was assigned to FASO, Brunswick functioning as the SERE psychologist. While in this position, Dr. Doran assisted in coordinating the research efforts of the Navy and Yale Medical School in further investigating the human response to severe uncontrollable stress. He also participated in OPERATION VALIANT RETURN in debriefing the 23 crew members detained in China and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Dr. Doran than transferred to Navy Headquarters in Millington, TN and worked as the Special Assistant for the Navy on Suicide Prevention and the Exceptional Family Member Program. Dr Doran is married to the former Ms Donna Lazar and has 3 children. Awards include: Meritorious Service (2); Joint Commendation; Joint Achievement; Navy Achievement (3); Outstanding Volunteer Service; Meritorious Unit; National Defense (2); Global War on Terror Service; Overseas; & Pistol.
