- Sam Tan Wei Shen of the Republic of Singapore, is an honors ocean engineering major.
- David Paul Baxter of Leesburg, Va., is an honors naval architecture major. He will be commissioned as a Navy ensign and will train as a submariner.
- Colin Edward Nevins of Bridgeport, Conn., is a chemistry major. He will be commissioned as a Navy ensign and attend Harvard Medical School after graduation.

ALUMNI
Since 1845, approximately 78,900 midshipmen have graduated from the Naval Academy (including the Class of 2012). Since 1980, more than 3,900 women (including the Class of 2012) have graduated from the Naval Academy.
GRADUATION CEREMONY
This is the 162nd traditional graduation ceremony. Since graduation ceremonies moved to the stadium in 1966, ceremonies were moved indoors by inclement weather in 1976 and 1987.
GRADUATION HAT TOSS
Today marks the 100th anniversary of the hat toss. Midshipmen of the Class of 1912 were the first to be commissioned as Navy ensigns at graduation June 7, 1912. President Howard Taft was the graduation speaker.

The Blue Angels fly in Navy F/A-18 Hornets from Pensacola, Fla.
GRADUATION SPEAKER
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta will deliver the graduation address to the Class of 2012.
