The production is under the direction of Dr. Lars Tatom with vocal direction by Dr. Aaron Smith and musical direction of Mr. Monte Maxwell.
The musical “Fiddler on the Roof” is based on Sholem Aleichem’s story of “Tevye and his Daughters” with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joseph Stein. The story takes place in a tiny Russian village in 1905 and focuses on a poor milkman, Tevye, who has to adapt to a changing world. His eldest daughter is betrothed to a wealthy butcher but is in love with a poor tailor. Tevye has to decide between keeping his family’s traditions or choosing his daughter’s happiness.
Vehicles without Department of Defense decals are not permitted on the Naval Academy grounds. Audience members may walk-on through Gate 3 on Maryland Avenue. Gate 3 is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. for pedestrian traffic during performance nights. All visitors are required to show a valid photo identification to enter the grounds. Parking will be available for $5 at the Navy/Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, with a complimentary shuttle to Mahan Hall.
